A true SPO everyday hero

Marc

As the father of five children, Marc is a true family man who, in addition to his job as a mail carrier in St. Peter-Ording, works to expand the range of recreational activities and supports several community organizations. He is particularly active on behalf of the town’s youngest residents, because it’s only through dedication that activities for children can take place.

The 43-year-old is deeply passionate about the low german language and hopes that this cultural heritage will endure for many years to come.

Come rain or shine, Marc is out delivering letters and packages to the locals. And one thing is certain: during a storm, that’s not always a pleasant experience. But no matter how bad the weather may be, you’ll always find Marc with a smile on his face.

Fun fact about Marc

His biggest hobby is SG Flensburg-Handewitt—he's had season tickets for almost 20 years and attends almost every home game.

More about Marc

There for everyone, always with a smile on their face

Marc Lorenzen has had ties to St. Peter-Ording from an early age; he’s originally from Husum and has been living permanently in SPO with his family since 2010.

As a mail carrier, he knows St. Peter-Ording like the back of his hand. Whether it’s stormy, rainy, or sunny—the 43-year-old is out and about in all kinds of weather and truly thrives in his job. Locals appreciate his open and cheerful nature and look forward to a quick chat with Marc at the door. And Marc is always up for a "Klönschnack" (conversation)—gladly in low german, too.

Visitors also often and gladly approach Marc to pepper him with questions. True to the motto: “The mail carrier must know!” But that’s no problem for Marc—if he can help, he’s happy to do so.

Life at home is just as exciting as his job. With five children, things simply never get boring—this is where the true spirit of extended family life thrives, which Marc really enjoys.

Getting actively involved and helping others is very important to Marc and his family. That’s why his wife Nina, for example, volunteers for the daycare support association, and Marc supports it whenever he can. For Marc, one thing is clear: to ensure there’s a wide range of activities for children, you have to take action. And seeing the sparkle in the children’s eyes is the best reward for Marc.

That’s Marc. A true SPO everyday hero.
