Beach Parking in St. Peter-Ording

12 kilometers long and up to 2 kilometers wide—the beach at St. Peter-Ording is incredibly expansive, and that’s exactly what makes it so special. Sometimes, though, the walks here can get pretty long, especially if you’re traveling with the whole family. So it’s great that in St. Peter-Ording, you’re allowed to park right on the beach at the Böhl and Ording sections.

Due to the breeding grounds and the protection provided by the Wadden Sea National Park, parking is only permitted here during certain times:

  • From March 14 through November 1, daily from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., parking is permitted at the Böhl and Ording beach sections.

In accordance with the State Nature Conservation Act and the National Park Act, overnight stays on the beach are strictly prohibited. For more information about your beach visit, please see our beach rules.

  • Overnight parking (after 10:30 p.m.) and staying overnight are not permitted in the beach parking lots or the dike parking lots.
  • The rates apply to all motor vehicles, including motorcycles.
  • People with a “G” or “aG” on their disability ID card, as well as holders of a blue parking permit, are exempt from parking fees upon presentation of valid proof.

There are numerous payment options available. In the parking lots—including at the beach—there are automated payment kiosks that accept cash (coins only), credit cards, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. You can also use parking apps, such as EasyPark. Day passes and long-term parking passes can also be purchased at the payment kiosks.
Horse parking permits can also be purchased at the payment kiosks in Böhl.

In addition, parkers can pay at www.fairparken.com/pay using common online payment methods up to 48 hours after exiting the parking lot.

No. The visitor’s tax is calculated based on the number of people and, as before, must be paid in addition to the parking fee. The visitor’s tax can be paid at several locations on the beach and in town. Those who already have a valid guest card or are residents of St. Peter-Ording do not need to pay this fee. There will be an increase in random checks for the visitor’s tax.

You can also purchase a day visitor card at the ticket machines or online via the website. Our staff at the tourist information centers or at the ticket booths at the beach entrances are, of course, also happy to assist with advice and sales.

People with severe disabilities classified as G or aG are exempt from parking fees for camera-based parking upon presentation of appropriate documentation. Holders of the blue EU parking permit as well as the yellow or red parking permit (depending on the state) are treated the same way.

The following options are available for fee exemptions for people with severe disabilities when using camera-based parking:

1. One-time exemption via email

Please send a photo of your disability ID card via email to info@fairparken.com, including your license plate number and the time of your parking session. You will shortly receive confirmation of the exemption via email. For assistance, please call +49 211 95433711.

2. One-time exemption via discount code

At our two tourist information offices in Dorf and Bad, you can obtain special 100% discount codes that you can enter at the parking pay stations or on the website www.fairparken.com/pay. The discount codes are valid for a limited time (up to 72 hours after issuance) and can be redeemed up to 48 hours after the end of the respective parking session. One discount code is required per parking session. We’re happy to provide you with multiple codes if you plan to park several times during your stay in St. Peter-Ording. Please remember to bring the appropriate proof of eligibility with you.

3. Temporary Exemption

Send a photo of your disability ID card via email to parken@tz-spo.de and let us know your license plate number and the duration of your stay in St. Peter-Ording. We will register you in our system as a free long-term parker with a specific license plate number for a limited time (until the end of the year at the latest). Eligibility must be re-verified annually and does not apply to overnight parking; it is valid for only one vehicle. Additionally, Options 1 and 2 can be used for additional vehicles.

Please note:

  • If the person with a severe disability is not in the vehicle, parking fees must be paid as usual.
  • The fee exemption and whitelisting can be applied retroactively for up to 48 hours.
  • Parking time limits must be observed; this does not apply to overnight parking in Hungerhamm.

Currently, there is a daytime rate and an evening rate, which allow for multiple uses of the parking spaces during operating hours.

However, if you are on the hourly rate, you cannot change parking spaces. The hourly rate applies only to the selected parking space.

Morning and evening rates are available at the beach parking lots. The morning rate applies from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. The evening rate applies from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Otherwise, the beach parking lots always operate on a daily rate. For frequent parking, we recommend purchasing a long-term parking pass. From 8:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., you can park for free at the beach parking lots.

At the beach access points, our beach staff will continue to check the guest cards (visitor’s tax) of cyclists and pedestrians. All guests in St. Peter-Ording are required to pay the visitor’s tax.

Use of the beach parking lots is permitted exclusively from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. during the period from March 15 to October 31 of each year. Outside these hours, parking and overnight stays are prohibited, and violations will be penalized. Digital camera technology is also used for this purpose.

All visitors are informed of the general terms and conditions, parking fees, and late fees through a comprehensive signage system. If payment has not been made within 48 hours of leaving the parking lot, a late fee of at least €39.90 plus the parking fees will be charged. Payment can be made retroactively within 48 hours via www.fairparken.com/pay.

You can find the current Terms and Conditions for parking in the designated parking spaces using the “fair parken” camera-based parking system at the following link.

Annual Parking Pass for St. Peter-Ording

The car sticker, which has been in use for decades, will be phased out by the end of 2024. Starting in January 2025, this sticker will be replaced by the new long-term parking rate in conjunction with the introduction of the camera-based parking system.

Once you’ve purchased the long-term parking rate, your chosen license plate number will be stored in the fair parken parking system. You will therefore not receive a physical ticket.
The cameras located at the entrances and exits of the parking lots record the license plates of all vehicles and can now recognize your license plate.

The annual parking pass is an annual rate. It is therefore valid from January 1 of a given year through December 31 of the same year. Please note that parking in the beach parking lots is not permitted year-round.

Included parking lots:

Additional important information regarding ticket validity and parking space availability:

  • In addition, all parking areas may be temporarily closed due to maintenance work.

  • The annual parking pass is valid exclusively for the license plate number provided at the time of booking. The annual parking pass is not valid for the parking lot at the Köhlbrand/Strandweg beach access point!

  • It does not include permission to use the parking areas at night.
