Pirates are taking over the historical island in St. Peter-Ording!
Every October, the pirates return to St. Peter-Ording to set up their pirate camp and recover from their stormy days on the high seas.
They bring along good food, delicious drinks, torches, souvenirs, live music, a fire show, exciting stories, and, of course, plenty of good cheer.

In the past, the port of Tönning and its historic warehouse played a significant role. This imposing monument, built in 1783 and still preserved today in nearly its original condition, stands as a testament to the area’s former heyday. With the construction of the Eider Canal between Kiel and Rendsburg in 1784, a navigable connection was established for the first time between the Baltic Sea and the Eider River, which flows into the North Sea. As the only port city on the west coast connected to the canal at that time, Tönning became a major center of trade. After the British blockaded the Elbe River and the Port of Hamburg during the war between France and England (1803 to 1807), the town became a hub for all trade with Denmark. At that time, around 2,000 ships a year unloaded their goods in the small harbor.
