Day Trip to the Islands and Halligs

Boat Tours

Fancy a day trip to Heligoland, Sylt, or the seal colonies? No problem! Excursion boats depart from various ports in the area—such as Büsum or Dagebüll—for the surrounding islands, Halligen, and seal colonies. On some boats, you can even bring your bike or car along. That way, you’ll have transportation once you arrive and can explore your destination to the fullest. You can book the tours either directly online through the ferry companies’ websites or at our tourist information offices in St. Peter-Ording.

A trip to the “Frisian Caribbean”!
Endless white beaches, green dikes and fields, large windmills, and historic thatched-roof farmhouses—there’s all this and much more to discover on Föhr.

• From Nordstrand with the excursion boats of the Adler-Schiffe shipping company. Please note: Bicycles may only be brought aboard these ships with advance reservation (limited number).

Take
a Boat Trip to Amrum Whether you just want to relax on the North Sea beach, take long walks through the woods and heathland, or enjoy the best view of the island from the Amrum Lighthouse—on Amrum, you can plan your perfect day trip exactly the way you like it.

    • From Dagebüll with the Wyker Dampfschiff-Reederei.
• From Nordstrand with the excursion boats of the Adler-Schiffe shipping company.

Off to the largest North Sea island!
Ahoy, Sylt! Here, sandy beaches meet cliffs, and bustling island life blends with peaceful spots in nature. There’s plenty to discover on the island of Sylt—including the Red Cliff in Kampen and Germany’s northernmost point, the “Ellenbogen.”

    • From Nordstrand on the Adler-Schiffe cruise ships.
• From St. Peter-Ording on the “Bahnspaß” tour operated by Adler-Schiffe. Adler-Schiffe offers the “Bahnspaß nach Sylt” tour. The tour begins with a train ride from St. Peter-Ording to Westerland. Once on the island, you’ll take a tour of the island, and then the Adler-Express will take you from Hörnum back to Nordstrand on the mainland. From there, you can take the bus and train back to St. Peter-Ording.

Explore
the North Sea spa town of Pellworm. Here, “relaxation in nature” is the order of the day. Surrounded by sheep, cows, and pastures, you can truly unwind and find peace on this marsh island.

    • From Nordstrand, take the car ferry “MS Pellworm I” operated by Pellwormer Dampfschiffsfahrts GmbH.

Explore
Germany’s only offshore island. About 60 km from the North Sea coast, there’s plenty to see—the impressive cliffs with their colorful sandstone formations, the rocky tidal flats, and the nearby Heligoland Dune are just a few of the island’s highlights.

    • From Büsum with the “Adler & Eils” shipping company.
    • Bus transfer from St. Peter-Ording via express bus to the ship. Every Thursday and, from June through September, also every Tuesday. You can get tickets at the tourist information offices in St. Peter-Ording.
• From Nordstrand via Adler ships from April through October.

Take
a boat trip to the “Queen of the Halligs” or to Langeneß. Visiting a Hallig is a special experience during a North Sea vacation. The small marsh islands of Hallig Hooge and Hallig Langeneß invite you to take long walks, go birdwatching, or join guided tours through the Wadden Sea—all while enjoying plenty of fresh North Sea air.


    • From Schlüttsiel, take the M/S “Hilligenlei” operated by the Wyker Dampfschiff-Reederei to both Halligs.
• From Nordstrand, take the Adler-Express operated by the Adler Reederei to Hallig Hooge.

Observe
North Sea wildlife from the water as they bask in the sun on the sandbanks of the North Sea coast—this is where seals and gray seals seem to feel most at home. Watch them in their favorite spot during a boat tour to the seal banks and learn more about these North Sea inhabitants.
